United Navy, Army and Air Force Board

MPA Remembrance

Welcome. Delighted you found us! This site will help you access essential information about Chaplaincy in the Regular and Reserve Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, as provided by ministers of the Baptist, URC, Congregational, Pentecostal (Assemblies of God and Elim) and Churches in Communities International churches (click for more info). It will also provide contemporary insight from stories of serving chaplains on the reality of this exciting, demanding and rewarding ministry.

You will find links to the three Armed Forces Chaplaincies and be able to contact the Convenor of the United Board, through whom you must liaise before being considered by Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force chaplaincy services. Most importantly, here is an opportunity to help in your prayerful consideration of what may be God’s call on your life for this ministry. (Please note that the recruitment of Cadet Force chaplains and Officiating Chaplains to the military (OCMs) are outside our remit and are administered through regional Navy. Army and RAF offices).

Armed Forces chaplains are passionate about their ministry for many reasons, not least because of the value placed on them by sailors, soldiers and air personnel and their commanders. We have a unique ministry within the military bringing spiritual support, pastoral care and moral guidance from a distinctly Christian perspective. We work in teams with those of faith and no faith. We bring a Christian presence, offer prayer and proclaim the Good News of the Captain of our souls.

Mission at the edge of the church is often at the heart of the Gospel. Military chaplaincy is just that. Our Sending Churches support us. The Military want us and if Missional Leadership in the Public Square motivates you, this is a gateway to explore ministry at sea on the land and in the air. What is there not to like?
